Returns and Refunds

Our auto parts returns policy is built to be used, not hidden. This page walks through the returns window, the exact steps to send a part back, how refunds are paid, how warranty claims work on engines and electrical parts, and the handful of items that cannot come back once installed.

The returns window

You have a full returns window from the day the parcel is delivered, as shown on your order confirmation. Keep the original packaging until the part is test fitted. An uninstalled part in its original box is a five minute return. An installed part is a warranty conversation instead, so always test fit first.

Ordered the wrong part? It happens to professionals too. Use the free fitment check next time by sending your VIN through the contact page, and we will make sure the replacement is right before it ships.

How to return a part

Step one, message support with your order number and the reason. Step two, we reply with the return authorization and the address, usually within one business day. Step three, pack the part in its original packaging with all hardware. Step four, ship it with tracking. That is the whole process.

If the return is our error, wrong item picked or a listing mistake, we send a prepaid label and you pay nothing. If the return is a change of mind, return postage is yours and we recommend an insured service for anything heavy.

How refunds are paid

Refunds go back to the original payment method once the part arrives and passes inspection, normally within a few business days of arrival. You get an email at each stage: received, inspected, refunded. Card processors can take a few extra days to show the credit, which is on their side, not ours.

Exchanges are faster than refund and reorder. Tell support which variant you need and we reserve it while your return travels.

Warranty claims

Warranty terms are printed on each product page and vary by line. Engines from the Engines & Motors department ship with compression documentation and stated coverage. Electrical parts from Electrical & Lighting are covered against defects, provided installation followed the maker’s instructions.

For a claim, send photos, the order number and a short description of the failure. Independent guidance on consumer warranty rights is published by the Federal Trade Commission, and nothing in our policy limits the rights described there.

What cannot be returned

Installed electrical components, engines that have been opened or run without the documented pre start checks, custom ordered items, and parts returned without their hardware. Each of these is flagged on the relevant product pages before you buy, never sprung on you afterwards.

When in doubt, ask before installing. A photo to support of the part offered up to the vehicle costs nothing and protects the full return option.

What our inspection actually checks

When a return arrives we check three things. Identity, is this the part we shipped, verified against serial or batch markings. Condition, is it uninstalled and complete with hardware, or does it show fitting marks. And packaging, because the original box carries the part numbers and protects resale of an unused part. Passing all three releases the refund the same day the inspection happens.

Returns that fail inspection are not simply refused. We photograph what we found, explain the gap, and offer the fair outcome, which may be a partial refund reflecting condition or a warranty conversation if the part shows a genuine defect.

Core charges and exchange parts

Some remanufactured lines carry a core charge, a deposit refunded when your old unit comes back rebuildable. Listings state the core value clearly. Returning cores is simple: use the packaging from the new part, include the core slip, and drain fluids first. Core refunds are paid separately from any product refund so the accounting stays clean on your side.

The five return mistakes that cost money

Installing an electrical part before checking connectors, which converts a return into a warranty claim. Discarding the box before test fitting. Shipping a return without tracking, which leaves nobody able to prove delivery. Sending a core in a bare box that leaks fluid in transit. And waiting until the last day of the window to start the conversation, leaving no room for the postal service to be slow.

Avoid those five and returning a part here is genuinely painless. Our support desk resolves the overwhelming majority of return requests in a single reply, and the FAQ page covers the edge cases this page does not.

A realistic return timeline

Day zero, you message support with the order number and reason, and the return authorization comes back usually within one business day. Days one to five, the parcel travels back with tracking. Day of arrival, identity and condition inspection, normally completed the same day. Refund release follows inspection immediately, and your card provider posts the credit within a few business days of release.

End to end, most change of mind returns complete inside two weeks, and exchanges are faster because the replacement part reserves the moment you confirm it. Warranty claims on installed parts take longer when a manufacturer inspection is involved, and we tell you the expected timeline upfront rather than letting the claim drift.

Every stage generates an email, so you are never guessing where the process stands. If any stage goes quiet longer than promised, reply to the last email and it lands in front of the same person who handled the previous step, not a fresh queue.

Frequently asked questions

How long is the returns window?

A full window from delivery, shown on your order confirmation. Keep the original packaging until you have test fitted the part.

Who pays return shipping?

We do when the error is ours, with a prepaid label. For change of mind returns the postage is yours and insured shipping is recommended.

How fast is the refund?

Within a few business days of the part arriving back and passing inspection, paid to the original payment method with email updates at each stage.

Can I return an installed part?

Installed parts move to a warranty claim rather than a standard return. Electrical items and opened engines cannot come back as change of mind returns.
